Have you ever noticed...

... that very few "lawn care services" want to actually do the most important part... you know, mow the yard? I've called so many of these companies and they do everything: trim bushes, cut trees, dig up roots, fertilize, get rid of weeds, measure soil chemistry, get rid of various types of bugs, and the list goes on. I bet they'd paint my house before they'd mow my yard.

At any rate, does anyone know of a good lawn mowing company in Austin? Half the time they say things like, "Oh, we can't get a mower into your back yard." and weird things like that after I say I don't want fertilization and all of the other services previously mentioned which would make mowing my yard a $500 deal.

PS: Why is everyone driving at 1/2 the speed limit today? Very irritating. 40 down Mopac and 20 on Oltorf, gah!

"Oh, Mister Montgomery, when is the last time you applied a top dressing treatment to your lawn?"

Cutting Edge Lawn Care...tell them Zandra Clay referred you. I pay 100 a month. They mow a min. of twice a month and fertilize twice a year (but did not push that on me, I asked for it). We have about a third an acre, so a fairly big yard. They are great with dogs if you have them.

You're paying $50 to get your lawn mowed? It can't be more than 30 minutes work on a decent motorized mower. That's $100/hr.

they trim, sweep and fertalize...and usually are here every 2 weeks. It is a min. of twice a month...and they treat the dogs well and are careful to lock the gate behind them. That alone is worth it. The last 3 services did not lock the gate and charged 40 a shot for just mowing. One guy even told me he expected me to pick up the dog toys and that I would have to pay if his mower broke...and I had to sweep

Just do like everybody else and hire one of the numerous mexican-owned companies...

I've got Austin Lawnman doing mine until we can sell the house. They had one crew come in last week to fix up the landscaping, and another crew to actually mow. Even their lowest tier of service has mowing. :)

The yard looks really great now and they even did a bunch of tree trimming (for about half the cost of actual tree trimming places). I've been happy with what they have done so far.

Interestingly enough, Austin Lawnman returned my call, told me they'd come by and give me a quote about 1/2 a week ago. Still heard nothing back. I swear, I can't pay someone to cut my yard, so messed up!
